Desomorphine, Krokodil: Current State and Social Perception

The consumption of substances evolves according to social change, new patterns of consumption, greater globalization, information, access to substances, etc. This entire context is closely related to the treatment and intervention that must be performed by clinical professionals; in this process sometimes appear substances that generate a social alarm, perhaps because of the repercussion they receive from non-specialized media. One of these substances with the greatest impact and social alarm generated in the last years is the desomorphine or krokodil, it seems therefore necessary to carry out a scientific review that clarifies and situates the particularity of the substance, its consumption and treatment.
